Soulmates

It wasn’t until I met you that I believed in the idea of soulmates.

It started out because you believed. We were sitting on your full-size bed, our legs dangling off the edges as we sat close, but separate, from each other. Now there would be no space, but it was early on back then. My leg swung in the air, brushing back and forth against the comforter in a subtle swish — my feeble attempt at releasing the static energy I felt off of my skin. “Do you actually believe in soulmates?” I asked.
